Geisha D. Ester

Executive Director

Geisha D. Ester is the Executive Director of Rutgers University’s National Transit Institute (NTI), where she contributes to the strategic direction and national delivery of federally funded workforce training programs for the transit industry. She brings nearly 30 years of experience in public transportation and more than 18 years in workforce development, specializing in leadership development, organizational learning, and scalable training solutions for agencies of all sizes.

Before joining NTI, Geisha held senior leadership roles at the Chicago Transit Authority, including Vice President of Training and Workforce Development, where she supported large-scale staff training initiatives and agency-wide learning programs. She has also contributed to national workforce efforts through her service with the Transportation Research Board and the American Public Transportation Association, with a focus on expanding education, career awareness, and peer learning across the industry.

Her core competencies include workforce development strategy, partnership building, program oversight, leadership training, and cross-sector collaboration.

About Lori

Lori J. Glickman is an Instructional Design Technologist at Rutgers University’s National Transit Institute (NTI), where she contributes to the design, delivery, and evaluation of federally funded national workforce training programs. With over 25 years of experience at Rutgers, Lori specializes in instructional design, visual communication, content development, multi-platform marketing, and the creation of clear, accessible, and visually cohesive instructional materials. She also supports the development of graphics, multimedia assets, email campaigns, and web content that strengthen NTI’s brand and support national outreach.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from The College of New Jersey. Her core competencies include instructional design, graphic design (Adobe Creative Cloud), web and branding strategy, content writing and editing, webinar production, and high-level project management.

About Andrea

Andrea Dixon is an experienced Senior Program Coordinator with a strong background in administrative operations, training coordination, and human resource management. Since 2019, she has served as a senior program coordinator for Rutgers University’s National Transit Institute, where she manages course logistics, collaborate with professionals in the transportation industry to bring high level training courses to employees nationwide.

She has a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s degree in social work, both from Rutgers University. She has over 20 years of experience working in higher education.

Amy Gornik is the Senior Program Coordinator for Meetings and Conferences at the National Transit Institute, where she leads the planning and execution of complex training events and national conferences for government and academic partners. With more than two decades of experience across the hospitality, higher education, and public sectors, Amy specializes in logistics coordination, vendor management, and creating seamless participant experiences. She develops detailed event timelines, oversees budgets and contracts, and represents NTI at industry events to strengthen partnerships and support the Institute’s mission. Known for her strong leadership and meticulous attention to detail, Amy ensures every program runs smoothly from concept to completion.

About Rich

Rich Salerno is the Accounting Assistant at Rutgers University’s National Transit Institute (NTI). He has completed his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree, and a Master of Business Administration degree at Misericordia University. He supports NTI’s financial operations by ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks. These tasks include working closely with vendors to facilitate the submission of invoices, coordinating closely with NTI instructors to ensure their travel expense reimbursements have been processed while providing guidance and ensuring compliance with travel policies, oversee NTI Instructor payroll, as well as assist with NTI’s quarterly reporting among other financial responsibilities.

Erika Mendelsohn is a Program Development Specialist with the National Transit Institute at Rutgers University, where she designs and develops workforce training for public transit professionals nationwide. Her work focuses on developing practical, learner-centered courses that support technical skill-building, leadership growth, and organizational effectiveness across the transit industry. She holds a master’s degree in Learning and Development from Rutgers University and is deeply committed to the belief that ongoing learning is essential at every stage of a career.

About Salendria

Salendria Mabrey is a Senior Program Coordinator who has been part of the NTI team since February 2020. She serves as the primary contact for coordinating the Procurement Series (I–IV) and also supports the Transit Service Planning courses. Originally from Upstate NY, Salendria earned her bachelor’s degree in English/Communications from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, and later completed her master’s degree in Communication and Information Studies at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. She is grateful to be a part of an initiative that provides training that helps improve knowledge and access as well as enhances lived experiences across the nation. In addition to her professional work, Salendria is a musician with a passion for the arts, and enjoys spending time at the Jersey Shore.

Myrna Sirleaf is an experienced Program Coordinator at the National Transit Institute, with over two decades of service supporting the delivery of federally funded training programs nationwide. She oversees course logistics across all 50 states, managing venues, instructors, contracts, and event details to ensure seamless execution and an exceptional participant experience.

In addition to her program responsibilities, Myrna supports NTI’s administrative and financial operations, including travel coordination, invoice processing, and maintaining essential documentation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Whittier College.

Shavona Schenck is a Program Development Specialist with Rutgers University’s National Transit Institute (NTI), supporting the development and national delivery of training programs for the public transportation workforce. With over 25 years of experience in learning and development, she specializes in instructional design, instructor development, curriculum modernization, and facilitation support across virtual and in-person environments. At NTI, she leads initiatives that strengthen instructor readiness and course quality, partnering with subject matter experts, instructors, and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to ensure consistent, high-impact learning experiences.

Before joining NTI, Shavona held quality management and senior instructional design, development, and facilitation roles with Fortune 500 companies and not-for-profit organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Tuskegee University and a Master of Arts in Education/Adult Education and Training from the University of Pheonix.

About Caitlin

Caitlin Carter is the Business Manager for the National Transit Institute (NTI) at Rutgers, where she oversees financial and administrative operations supporting federally funded transit training programs. She manages NTI’s grant lifecycle, including budgeting, FTA grant applications and reporting, subcontract and RFP administration, and audit preparation.

With nearly a decade of experience in grant and financial management, Caitlin brings deep expertise in federal compliance, financial systems, and process improvement. She works closely with the Federal Transit Administration and Rutgers departments to ensure accuracy, accountability, and efficient operations across NTI’s programs.

Eneida Cordero Toner

About Eneida

Prior to joining NTI, Eneida served as the Program Coordinator for the Program in Latin American Studies (PLAS) at Princeton University. She began this role in 2011, where she managed the undergraduate minor and graduate certificate programs, and provided comprehensive academic and administrative support.

Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, Eneida brings strong cross-cultural communication skills and a global perspective shaped by extensive professional and personal travel throughout the US and Europe.

Prior to her role at Princeton, Eneida was an Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP with experience in its Global Human Capital and Executive Education groups. Eneida studied Marketing at New York City College of Technology and the College of Staten Island.
